In today's news of the completely ridiculous . . .

They don't call Gabby Douglas the flying squirrel for nothing. She flips, she spins, she tumbles, she turns herself inside out in ways that most human bodies are not even capable of. And on Friday night she took her place among the greatest gymnasts in the world. Let's face it: She's awesome.

And yet, while (most of) the country is singing our little champion's praises, blogs and twitter feeds all over the internet are reportedly going insane over the most absurd and insignificant detail ever to embarrass bloggers and tweeters everywhere - the condition of her hair.

“why hasn’t anyone tried to fix Gabby Douglas’ hair?” and  “gabby douglas gotta do something with this hair!” are just a couple of the ridiculous comments being hurled at this remarkable girl.

Seriously, people. Raise your game a little.

Yes, Gabby Douglas' hair looked a little bit disheveled by the end of the night. But let's consider the contributing factors, shall we? She was in a brightly lit arena, and had about a bzillion cameras and their lights aimed directly at her as well. So it's a pretty good bet that she was just a little hot and sweaty from that factor alone - conditions that don't really bode so well for curly hair. And let's not forget the fact that she was competing her ass off at the Olympics, and was undoubtedly dealing with some pretty heavy duty nervous energy as a result. So I'm guessing that her hair was probably not her biggest concern at that moment.

But apparently it was for a whole bunch of other people. Perhaps said critics (who I'm sure are all groomed to perfection at all times, of course) believe she should have dropped everything that she was focused on regardless of the situation, and hustled herself to the ladies room pronto for a mirror check. Because, after all, appearances are everything, right?

Wrong.

So, Gabby Douglas had a bad hair moment at the Olympics.

She also had a pretty phenomenal golden moment too. So how about we focus on that:

Rock on, Little Flying Squirrel.

Cheering at the Olympics: Women vs. Men

Women: "Ooooooh pretty. Excellent formation, ladies. Perfect execution. Nice straight legs, good tight pattern. Keep those toes pointed. Just hold it for a few seconds longer . . .  You can do it!"

Men: "C'mooooooon wardrobe malfunction!!!"

Say What?!?

OK, wait. I just have to say this out loud. There's a badminton scandal at the Olympics. Yes, you heard me correctly, a badminton scandal. Apparently, several players were caught cheating at the easiest "stand-around-in-the backyard-wasting-time-hitting-the-little-birdie-until-the-barbecue-is-ready" sport in history by trying to lose matches in order to face easier opponents.

No. Seriously.

How friggin' lazy do you gotta be . . .

I need to go beat my head against the wall for a minute.

What a night for these amazing athletes! If you're going to turn in the best performance of your life - there's no better place to do it than at the Olympics. And these little phenoms tore down the house last night!

Well done ladies! Well done!!

My Olympic dream for today . . .

I've decided how I want to compete in the Olympics. I want to be that guy that sits at the head of the boat on the 8 man rowing team yelling 'C'mon you lazy bastards. Row!!'
