In today's news of the completely ridiculous . . .

They don't call Gabby Douglas the flying squirrel for nothing. She flips, she spins, she tumbles, she turns herself inside out in ways that most human bodies are not even capable of. And on Friday night she took her place among the greatest gymnasts in the world. Let's face it: She's awesome.

And yet, while (most of) the country is singing our little champion's praises, blogs and twitter feeds all over the internet are reportedly going insane over the most absurd and insignificant detail ever to embarrass bloggers and tweeters everywhere - the condition of her hair.

“why hasn’t anyone tried to fix Gabby Douglas’ hair?” and  “gabby douglas gotta do something with this hair!” are just a couple of the ridiculous comments being hurled at this remarkable girl.

Seriously, people. Raise your game a little.

Yes, Gabby Douglas' hair looked a little bit disheveled by the end of the night. But let's consider the contributing factors, shall we? She was in a brightly lit arena, and had about a bzillion cameras and their lights aimed directly at her as well. So it's a pretty good bet that she was just a little hot and sweaty from that factor alone - conditions that don't really bode so well for curly hair. And let's not forget the fact that she was competing her ass off at the Olympics, and was undoubtedly dealing with some pretty heavy duty nervous energy as a result. So I'm guessing that her hair was probably not her biggest concern at that moment.

But apparently it was for a whole bunch of other people. Perhaps said critics (who I'm sure are all groomed to perfection at all times, of course) believe she should have dropped everything that she was focused on regardless of the situation, and hustled herself to the ladies room pronto for a mirror check. Because, after all, appearances are everything, right?

Wrong.

So, Gabby Douglas had a bad hair moment at the Olympics.

She also had a pretty phenomenal golden moment too. So how about we focus on that:

Rock on, Little Flying Squirrel.

I'm with you on this one for sure. There have been a number of rediculous headlines having to do with the Olympics. I just keep shaking my head and ignoring them. LOL
